Saxon Court, Bicester
and Pegasus Grange, Oxford
FirstPort Retirement – Saxon Court, Bicester & Pegasus Grange, Oxford – £ 34k – November 2016
Hallmark carry out a number of Section 20 tendered schemes for FirstPort across their wide geographical spread throughout the South of England. The road approach to Saxon Court was suffering from heavy delivery vehicles hitting the speed hump from various angles and causing the block paving to sink and spread. This combined with poor drainage and the end result was a pooling of water that froze in winter causing a major safety hazard with elderly residents attempting to negotiate the very uneven and slippery surface.
Hallmark were contracted to uplift the identified areas of block paving, provide new compacted sub-base and lay a new thicker monobloc followed by the sweeping in of kiln dried sand.
As a result of the excellent finish achieved at Saxon Court, Hallmark were also contracted to carry out a larger project at another FirstPort site – Pegasus Grange in Oxford. Similar issues had been encountered around the garages with block paving spreading and causing dangerous undulations. Large areas of blocks were uplifted, the substrate prepared and built up, followed by the installation of the thicker monobloc.
All works were carried out to the satisfaction of the Development Manager and most importantly, the residents who pay for the works from their maintenance fund.
