Hythe Refurbishment
New Forest District Council – Hythe – Conversion of communal areas into 2 No. new apartments. January 2018 – May 2018 – Value £ 110k
After a complex tendering, presentation and interview procedure, Hallmark were appointed to undertake the enabling, stripping out, alteration and installation of 2 No. new 1 bedroom apartments within the communal areas of an existing residential block.
Works involved the careful removal and disposal of asbestos based materials all in accordance with current legislation and recognised HSE procedures. Existing load bearing walls were removed, carefully propped and new fire protected structural steelwork installed. Insulated MF ceilings and stud partitions created the new living spaces.
New kitchens and shower rooms were fitted, incorporating the necessary drainage alterations. Mechanical and electrical services were installed including the link in with the existing communal heating system which was kept running for the benefit of all the other residents whilst the works progressed. Skim plaster, full decoration and combination of carpet, non-slip vinyl and Karndean flooring completed the finished product.
The whole project was completed in 17 weeks to the satisfaction of New Forest District Council Architect and Clerk of Works together with the residents who made positive comments regarding the minimal amount of disruption caused to them during the works.
